Richard Hackenberg

Department anatomy
As a child already, Richard has been interested in Eastern philosophy, read the Tao Te King at age 16, and started practicing karate. Richard started with yoga over 30 years ago inspired by getting involved in Zen Buddhism and by a visit of Krishnamurti in Switzerland. Due to an allergic respiratory illness, he started focusing on breathing techniques (pranayama) besides practicing asanas. The healing aspects of yoga have been accompanying him all his life.
Richard studied natural science and linguistics in Munich, Germany, was a drummer and percussionist in various bands, was a DJ, and an anchor with an independent radio station in Munich. During a 2-year journey through Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, and India, he learned about Iyengar Yoga, and kept focusing on it. After returning to Munich he went through a 3-year training as a yoga teacher in the style of B.K.S. Iyengar with the Sebastian Kneipp Academy. He has been especially interested in anatomy which has become a subject of continuing studies. Richard has been teaching in Munich and its surroundings for 10 years, he is supervising the yoga teacher training with Airyoga in Zurich and Munich where he also teaches anatomy, pranayama, and yoga technique.
Richard is specialized on therapeutical private training for people with shoulder/neck and respiratory problems. His teaching style is authentic, down to earth, and full of humor.
