Kung Fu
WU LIN Kung Fu is a demanding, traditional martial art with the goal to combine efficient self-defense with the aspects of wholeness, balance, and health. Developing a feel for the body, the coordination of movements, the building of reflexes, as well as the increase in punching power and flexibility are in close interaction with the mind and its ability to develop itself further. Kung Fu (Gongfu) means "hard work". Work is hard when it is demanding a lot of physical and mental effort from us, when this challenge is sometimes even uncomfortable, and is demanding patience and perseverance.
Target Group
WU LIN Kung Fu is geared for men and women who are looking for a holistic, clearly structured, and efficient martial art. Besides giving the safety and self-confidence to be able to defend yourself in case of emergency, WU LIN Kung Fu also leads to calmness, concentration, relaxation, health, and development of personality and character. The concentration, mutual respect, composure in behavior, and relaxation which are practiced in the training sessions are important elements in everyday life.
Practice starts with a specific warm-up which is composed of gymnastic exercises from Asian bodywork. Further practice is the acquisition and development of the forms, and the technical training with a partner. Elements promoting stamina, punching power, and reflexes are being learned and practiced using various aids like punch bags, mitts, etc.
The Structure
WU LIN Kung Fu is based on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd form. By way of these forms, the student is learning hand and leg techniques, feeling and movements, as well as the various basic principles like a.o. simultaneousness, central line, deviation of force. Starting with the 2nd form, the training also incorporates the use of short batons and knives. Later follow practice at the wooden dummy, the long pole, and the butterfly knife (further information at the end of this page).
The Conclusion
No matter if it is self-defense, fascination with the variety in movements, holistic health aspects, or the philosophical background - there is nothing lacking in WU LIN kung fu!

Further background information regarding WU LIN Kung Fu System:
Wooden Dummy
The acquired skills are being further practiced with the wooden dummy. Speed, rigor, and endurance are being perfected with the wooden partner. The hand and leg techniques are being completed with the form of the wooden dummy.
The Short Knife
With the solid base of the knife techniques the student is able to ward off the extremely dangerous attacks with a knife. Besides the short knife form, the student learns to disarm the opponent and disable him/her.
The Short Baton
The method of practicing with the short baton is based on practicing the feel for the hands. The student learns how to handle this versatile weapon. He/she can either disarm, defend, or attack. In the street or in a restaurant an umbrella, a rolled up newspaper, or a torn off leg of a chair can replace the baton.
The Long Pole
The long pole strengthens the legs, arms, and shoulders out of the inner force of the body. The stability is improved, and the concentration, and determination are being promoted.
The Butterfly Knife
The form of the butterfly knives strengthens the wrists and forearms. It teaches the attentive handling of the large and heavy double knives. The usage shows attack and defense techniques against short and long poles. The butterfly knives are the crowning completion of WU LIN Kung Fu Systems.
